Reverse Advent Calendar Challenge Raises 180kg of Food Donations for Whitehawk Food Bank
Throughout December 2016 ThoughtShift took part in a Reverse Advent Calendar Challenge to increase food donations for the Whitehawk Food Bank and to help increase awareness around the work food banks do.
The challenge involved ThoughtShift team members putting aside one item per day in December just like opening one door per day on an advent calendar. Further to this, team members nominated friends and family to join in and either drop donations off with ThoughtShift, deliver them directly to Whitehawk Food Bank or make a financial contribution.
The ThoughtShift team raised over 375 donations of food and household items. This included much needed items like toilet paper, sanitary products and pet food as well as food items. Furthermore a number of Brighton based businesses like Takka Productions, Brilliant Noise and Change Gym Hove generously contributed to the total 180kgs of food and household donations weighed by Whitehawk Food Bank at the end of December.
Donations raised will go towards three-day emergency supplies given to people in the Brighton and Hove area facing hunger and crisis.
Kate Tennant, Co-ordinator at Whitehawk Food Bank commented:
“We are amazed by the generosity of local businesses in partnering with us to help those living in our city who are hungry”
Helen Trendell, Managing Director & Co-Founder of ThoughtShift was delighted at the impact the project would have on those in need “ThoughtShift is proud to have contributed to 180kgs of essential food and household items to Whitehawk Food Bank and help the estimated 1,109,309 people in crisis who needed emergency food supplies last year”.
The Reverse Advent Calendar Challenge was undertaken as part of ThoughtShift’s commitment to partner and fundraise for a range of charities local to Brighton and Hove. ThoughtShift will continue to partner with local charities in 2017 to raise funds for even more local causes.
